Formed in 1999 as an independent, self-governing bar guild, SOLLA functions as the central organization for licensed practitioners across the Republic of Somaliland.
Mission & Judicial Strategy
The Somaliland Lawyers Association oversees the admissions of law graduates to practice, certifies license compliance, maintains the ethics and disciplinary commission, and establishes collaborative programs with judicial departments, international entities, and non-profits.
Through statutory alignment, we seek to integrate customary elder dispute mediation workflows (Xeer) with statutory civil codifications to ensure legal predictability, and reduce the heavy backlog of civil claims within regional courts.
